Our founding team is made up of educational and technology professionals with more than 60 years of combined experience of bringing the most secure and impactful tools to education and users.
Our Story
SubHub EDU was born out of a simple but powerful idea: schools deserve a better way to manage substitutes.
After 12 years in the classroom, teaching in both public and private schools, our founder transitioned into EdTech to help teachers and schools in new ways. But when the EdTech bubble burst, she found herself back in the classroom as a substitute teacher—this time at her son’s independent school.
It was there she saw firsthand how manual, outdated substitute management processes drain school administrators’ time and leave students without the right coverage. Too many schools were juggling spreadsheets, text chains, and last-minute scrambles to find coverage, all while sacrificing instructional time for students.
She knew there had to be a better way.
Using her deep EdTech experience, she partnered with a team of experienced and driven developers to create SubHubEdu in order to streamline substitute scheduling for independent and private schools. Our automated, intelligent matching system helps schools find the right substitute faster, reducing lost instructional time and freeing up administrators to focus on supporting teachers and students.
Today, SubHubEdu partners with schools across the country to modernize sub management, ensuring students have the continuity they deserve while schools regain valuable time.

MaryBeth Crissman – Founder
MaryBeth has been dedicated to education since declaring Secondary English Education as her college major during her freshman year. With over 20 years of experience in education-focused roles, she began as a classroom educator, teaching for more than 12 years, before transitioning into the EdTech field. There, she worked with leading organizations to deliver innovative and effective solutions for educators and students.
SubHubEdu was born out of her experiences during the post-Covid EdTech bubble burst when she returned to the classroom as a substitute teacher. Witnessing firsthand the challenges teachers faced when trying to take time off, she recognized the need for a better solution—and set out to create it.
